I am 37 weeks pregnant with an awful cough. It’s a dry non-productive cough and it’s very irritating to my lungs and throat so I’m looking to find a natural solution as I have have yet to find a cough medicine safe for pregnant women. I remember hearing that honey can be used to stop a cough, but how would I take it? Is it just mixed with warm water or tea? Or do you just eat spoonfuls of it? Any other remedies you have are welcome as well.

You can use hydrogen peroxide by gargling it
then spiting it out after 30-45seconds. After that
let the peroxide do it’s thing. Then to make it even
better after that, take 1 tsp of honey and swallow it.
The honey will coat your throat and act as a shield.
i have heard and read that a tbls honey and a little cinnomon is a cure for alot of things. Take it daily. Just make a paste out of it. Also definatly do peroxide, and stay away from sugar and dairy.
Sometimes a cough like that is due to post nasal drip from the sinuses. When you have a head cold, sometimes you might want to sleep with your head elevated. Also, try irrigating your sinuses, with either or netti pot or using a small plastic spray bottle filled with a mild salt water solution.
If you use hydrogen peroxide to wash out your mouth, dilute it first half with water, and make sure you don’t swallow it. You can also use a 1/2 peroxide and water solution for brushing your teeth — it gets rid of a lot of bacteria along the gum line.
I have heard of honey as having properties that fight infections. I have also heard one shouldn’t give babies honey. I don’t know how that applies to pregnancy.
You can also make a tea from a piece of ginger root. Peel it, chop it up, and cover with boiling water for a few minutes. Then sweeten the tea and sip.
Good luck.
